20251022 IOHA Webinar: Soft Skills to support Occupational Hygiene Technical Skills

As professionals, we should always strive to do the best job possible by becoming the best version of ourselves. In doing so, we support our organization, clients, colleagues, the wider public, and ourselves by making a meaningful difference and helping to reduce the risk of ill health. Technical robustness is essential. Applying sound science enables us to generate reliable data, which in turn allows us to make informed decisions about reducing exposure risks and preventing ill health. However, all of our work is not solely technical. It involves working with others, building trust, communicating effectively, listening to feedback, asking the right questions, and understanding others. These elements form the “art” of occupational hygiene. We must engage both sides of our brain: the analytical and the artistic. Building these interpersonal skills helps us grow into the best version of ourselves in the workplace. Often referred to as “soft” or “leadership” skills, they allow us to be the total professional. During this webinar, we’ll explore some of these skills in an interactive way, allowing you to take the learning back to your workplace and continue making a difference.
